A weird one: Eluveitie is a folk metal band from Switzerland. Their sound can be described as Celtic folk metal with melodic death metal influences. The band formed in 2002 and their first EP, Vên came out in 2003. The band has since then released a full length album, Spirit. In November 2007, Eluveitie was signed by Nuclear Blast.The first product of the collaboration, Slania, was released in February 2008.

The Swiss Showband is performing alongside the world's most prestigious military formations at this year's military tattoo in Basel. The 130-strong music/dance team was recruited from across German speaking Switzerland, and has been practicing its unique show for a year now.

In 1988 the debut album by Marco Pfeuti, better known as Gölä, became the most successful Swiss German album ever. Four more hit albums followed and in 2004 Gölä started singing in English. This however was less successful. In May 2008 he made his Swiss German comeback on television where he performed D'Stadt, a track from a new double album – featuring English and Swiss German songs – which knocked Madonna off the top of the charts.
